My name is Will Wehmeyer and I'm an American artist who’s prime focus is large scale graphite/pencil art. I do large scale pencil drawings because I noticed that your rarely see that type of artwork displayed around the world. And to me I feel pencil artwork has a way of creating a more dramatic feel to the art. I think that is what everyone artist is trying to show the viewer. They want them to feel the emotion, the tension, or a sense of calm and peace.
How I came to learn doing my artwork is one drawing at a time. I am self-taught artist and I learn something new with every drawing I create. Learning from my mistakes or mishaps I know what I did wrong and how to do it better next time. And I always like trying to draw something new. I don't usually draw the same theme over and over again. My artwork has been based on many different innovations from narrative art, to landscapes, to action, and to the creativity of fantasy and portraits. I love for my artwork to primary tell a story or give the viewer something to feel. With that I put a lot of time, focus, and thought in my artwork. If I do a theme of an historic event or event happening today I do research to give an honest accurate depiction as possible.
It has not always been easy. I have had my struggles in life. I have battled depression and anxiety and found art to be a calming therapy. Me as an artist I have a desire to show the viewer and the world something new or something you rarely see. It's all I truly wish for my artwork. But the only advice I tell any artist if you want to be known for your art do the type of artwork no one ever sees, challenge yourself, and most importantly be happy with what you do.
As of November, 2016 I became the youngest artist to be accepted into the New Braunfels Art League and became a very well love artists in his community. As time went on my artwork became well known from New Braunfels, to San Antonio, to Wimberley, to Austin, to Houston, even known in a few places outside of Texas. As of 2024 I have done well over 200 art pieces since 2014. I have won several awards from New Braunfels Art League four Honorable Mentions, three 3rd Place, three 2nd Place, three 1st Place, and a Best in Show Award in 2019. I also won a 1st Runner Up Artist of the Year Award 2023 at the New Braunfels Art League.

Early Career Work/Pre-Military Service (2015-2018)
Here is my artwork when I was beginning my journey as a professional artist. At the time I was still trying to figure out what type of artist I wanted to be. I was still learning new skills and new ways of approach when it comes to drawings. This era I say was a more quantity time. I had more free time to work and was trying to get more artwork ready for displaying. I did know at the time I eventually join the military so I wanted to get more artwork out before I wouldn’t have time to work. Compared to my artwork today I still enjoy seeing these to show how far my skill set changed as well as what I pursue now.
High School Period/Early Promised Work (2010-2015)
Some artist wouldn't show there most early and some embarrassing artwork but I like to show how far I come and how much I learned. To explain all these artworks I did most of these in high school on request from close friends at the time. Some I promised I do even after my time in high school. I was actually very close to quitting drawing as together after this era but some support from friends encouraged me to continue drawing and continue getting better. So even though I am embarrassed with most of theses I am not afraid to let everyone see how much I grown and how I could have stopped there.
